Dear friends,
As we well know now, God is a great help in times of need. We have survived a great catastrophe in Haiti last January by His grace. Six months later, we are still praying for emotional and mental healing. Since we have faced death and have come out alive, we are celebrating life. We now have a message to share with you dear friends: "trust in the Lord and the power of His might". God is mighty to save and to deliver.
We are taking this time to thank you for your great support and love. We have been sheltered from the elements at the Good Shepherd orphanage thanks to David Zimmer, Mike Martin and Chrispin Gabriel who came to Haiti in our greatest time of need. They have also brought some food to us for which we are grateful.
Our walls have been torn down at the Orphanage but we are in the process of rebuilding them. it is being done because of your generous support. it is now half way up.
The students are back in school since April 5th. We have transferred the pre-scholars from Maria Cassy to Carrefour because the houses on both sides of our schools are a safety hazard for the little ones.
At Carrefour, the students returned to class since April 5th and all the teachers show up for work regularly. Since nobody is officially allowed inside, all the classes are conducted in the school yard. We are survivors!!!
After an official inspection recently, our school building at Carrefour needs some repairs.
At Raquette, one side of the school building has been severely damaged by the earthquake. We have torn in down for safety reasons because the students have returned to school. The walls surrounding the building have collapsed during the earthquake.
We have not received any new orphans yet because the organizations that are in charge of placing those children are conducting extensive investigations before considering them true orphans. Soon they will be at our gate with some children. This cannot be done on a private level because the whole population lives on the streets.
The nation of Haiti is for the most part in ruins. We need divine intervention in order to live like everyone else on this planet. At the Good Shepherd, we pray collectively 3 times a day for this miracle to take place. We believe that it shall happen. It will be for God's glory.
We pray also for you, faithful supporters that God will continue to use you to strengthen the mission at the Good Shepherd Orphanage. The children and the young people need your spiritual and financial support to make their future brighter and better.
May God keep you and shower you with all kinds of blessings.
